|Councillor Dewi Jones - Chair
I am originally from West Wales and a product of Gwendraeth Valley GS. I have lived in Michaelston-le-Pit since 1997 and been a councillor since 2011. My wife and I were teachers and local government officers including, in my case, periods as Director of Education, and a member of the School Teachers’ Review Body for England & Wales. I am now semi-retired but continue part time consultant work. Our son, Owain, is currently a Lecturer in the Open University Business School. I am also the proud owner of “Alys” a good natured Short Haired German Pointer with whom I enjoy walking in the area.
|Councillor Gillian Marks
I have lived in Leckwith for thirteen years and am very content to remain here as I really like the area and its inhabitants. I am very busy looking after our dogs, cats, goats, ponies and chickens. These are mostly rescue animals. My other hobbies are gardening, Egyptology and genealogy. I have just retired as Chairman of the Council but will continue as a councillor.

Councillor Karen Oxenham
I have lived in Michaelston-le-Pit since March 2012, and absolutely love it here. I am originally from Talbot Green and, having lived near Bath and also in Worcestershire due to work commitments, I returned to Wales settling in Penarth in 1999. I started my career as an accountant in South Wales, and after some years moved into Sales roles in IT software development services. I now lead major projects to promote sales excellence and revenue growth across the global offices of a multinational Professional Services organisation. My husband leads an international technology company and my mum-in-law, a retired deputy head teacher and head of 6th form, also lives here in the village. In our leisure time my husband and I enjoy mountains (for skiing), beaches and coastline (for boating) and under my mum-in-law’s expert supervision, we are continually developing our gardening skills.
|Councillor Nicky Keeping
I grew up on Dartmoor, but have now lived in Michaelston-le-Pit, for four years. I am married with two children and work at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff
Councillor Katie Heath
After moving away from Michaelston after school, I returned a couple of years ago and live on a smallholding in the village. I work full time as a project manager for a conservation organisation and when I'm not at work you can usually find me out in a field somewhere with my dog Lola or working on the house.
|Councillor Carole Robertson|
I have lived in the community for most of my life and since 1983 at Beggan Farm, Leckwith. I am married to Andy. We have a herd of organic Welsh Black cattle and we also run a furniture business. I have two grown up sons.
I am interested in history, environmental matters and conservation, though most of my spare time is spent attempting to tame our garden.
|Jeanette Haigh – Clerk to the Council
I was born in Yorkshire and grew up in Pembrokeshire. I moved to Cardiff in 1990 and eventually moved to Dinas Powys in 1992 where I live with my husband, Tim.
My interests are running, cycling and walking.
